Essential Digital Opportunity Workshop Schedule

Essential Families, a state of Missouri registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been at the forefront of delivering critical children and family development services, accessible virtually 24/7, akin to how AMAZON delivers products and services to your doorstep.

Essential Families, leveraging our Collective Impact Integrated Service Platform (CIISP), is leading a collective of 39 Community Partners, that has closed the Digital Divide for 629 households.

The Essential Digital Opportunity Program model and approach has delivered “measurable impact”, proving the need, and positive community effect of our Essential Digital Opportunity Program.  Moreover, with adequate funding, over 4-year period, our Essential Digital Opportunity Program is sustainable for years to come.

Our Essential Digital Opportunity Program, designed and built in compliance with National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Section 60304(c) of the Infrastructure and Jobs Act of 2021, and the state of Missouri Digital Opportunity Plan, is tailored to scale across any rural or urban community in the United States.

Our Essential Digital Opportunity Program has eight (8) services designed and built to stabilize children and families, leveraging affordable and reliable broadband Internet.

Once the individual/family is stable, Essential Families, in collaboration with our 39 Community Partners, has nine (9) Digital Workforce Development services (job training programs) designed to enable Cover Population participation in the “Digital Economy”.  

The University of Missouri/BLOCH, a highly respected third-party data analysis and reporting entity, produced a Digital Opportunity report using Essential Families Digital Opportunity raw data.

Essential Families has NO COST Internet for 3 months and 6 months, with our Internet Service Provider Partners.

Essential Families has 60 trained Digital Navigators. The Essential Families Digital Navigator, provides individualized or small group assistance to unserved and underserved Covered Population, who need affordable internet, new Chromebook with 1-year premium service, coaching in introductory digital skills, how to protect yourself online.

Essential Telehealth

See licensed Primary Care Doctor and/or Mental Health therapists or psychologist 24/7 - by Video or Phone.

Essential Telehealth provides the same accurate diagnosis and high-quality care you would get in person, but from the comfort of your own home, car, ANYWHERE! No waitlist.   Physicians can diagnose, treat and prescribe prescriptions electronically sent to a pharmacy of your choice.

Essential Parenting

Offering 12 virtual parental education sessions, 24/7,  by trained Essential Parental Educators (EPE). Supports expectant mothers, parents, grandparents, or guardians of children birth to nineteen (19).

Our Essential Parenting Educator can also serve as substitute Home Visitor for agencies, needing this resource. Service areas include health, nutrition, family engagement, mental wellness, and education.

Includes our Essential Telehealth, for Primary and Mental Health care.

(Economic Development Closes the Digital Divide)

During our first successful Digital Opportunity pilot, funded by Kauffman Foundation, Essential Families worked DIRECTLY with the covered population, in the greater Kansas City area, to understand what they needed to close the Digital Divide. 24/7 access to essential resources, laptops, training, affordable Internet, mental/primary health, help with their children, work from home jobs, and starting a business, using the Internet, were the primary needs to close the Digital Divide. Jobs and starting a business scored very high in our empirical data analysis. According to section 60304 (c) of the Infrastructure and Jobs Act of 2021, Public Law 117-58, 135 Stat. 429 (November 15, 2021), commonly known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, economic development closes the Digital Divide. The below tables illustrate the WAITLIST for our Digital Workforce Development programs, which closes the Digital Divide, and sustains our Essential Digital Opportunity Program.
